About

Los Angeles has long been a haven for art and artists, but for many of the artists whose work graces our streets, commercial sustainability remains elusive. So LACFPA’s primary role is to provide additional financial supplementation for projects that align with our mission to beautify our shared public space and enlighten our community.

There is no agreement to “opt in” to having our public views imposed upon by copious advertisements and other objects intended to hijack our attention. LACFPA often supports projects which attempt to improve upon existing spaces and bring about a healthier resting state for the eyes and ears of the public.

Often this may mean supporting projects that defy local statues or commonly accepted social contracts. But just because an institution sells advertising space on a bus stop wall does mean that it should, it just means that it did. And an artist who modifies the advertisement in an attempt to improve the impact it has on those waiting for a bus means something else entirely.
